Countdown to Campo
Thirty-two hours from now, I'll be boarding a plane that will take me from Rochester, NY, to San Diego, CA, after which I will be traveling to the town of Campo. Campo is the town closest to the southern terminus, or the start, of the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT), a 2650 wilderness trail that stretches the height of the country. Hiking the PCT has been a dream of mine for a long time, and events have come together to allow me to hike it this summer and fall.
I plan to blog along the trail on a weekly basis to record my journey and also allow friends and family to follow along if they so wish. Much more to come, but I wanted to test out the blog setup before I go.
For those looking for more information about what I'll be doing this summer, I'll suggest two resources:
- PCT FAQ from the Pacific Crest Trail Association.
- It's the People, a short film by hiker Elina Osborne [16 min]
Happy hiking!
Katie
